Op-Ed 3

The left wing and the right wing have one thing in common, the problems that they have in the country that they share.

Where is the common ground?

Politics are originated to gain and hold. These two words carry a lot of power in a government. Politics can influence and provide an outlet to make decisions. When voting for a president, the vote can remain anonymous if chosen to do so. The feeling of your opinion, remaining anonymous can make a decision easier, but can also cause for less thinking revolving around the decision.

On the flip-side, your opinion on who you choose to vote for can be vocalized as loudly as you would like.

Civil liberties provides us with the stability and access to basic human rights and guaranteed freedom. On paper, civil liberties allows for the ability for people to have their own opinions, and should remove heavy sense of judgment.

Individuals have the human right to participate in political and social life without carrying a heavy fear of being punished for doing so. ‘Everyone is excited about her and that scares me’: Female Trump voters on Harris, from MSNBC, is a video that provides opinions from women Trump supporters in Wisconsin and Central right group (swing voters) from Wisconsin.

Women Trump supporters in Wisconsin, describing their opinions on Kamala Harris, vocalize a heavy concern for why people are so excited about her. One of the main concerns is the target that Kamala Harris is aiming for. Three targets, including minorities, females, and young voters.

This segment in the video targets a crowd that might agree with the prerogative that people vote for an individual based on what they have in common with them, for example, Kamala Harris being a woman.

Is this targeting a crowd that isn’t fully educated on information about Harris, due to the age and lack of experience? A question that is brought upon the video. The woman in the video expresses the lack of knowledge the younger generations have, insinuating that this is why they would vote for Harris.

Woman Trump supporters in Wisconsin, show a heavy belief that Harris is not even educated herself, and that she has a lack of competence in understanding what is truly going on around her and the country.

One of the women in the video states, “as a teacher if I didn’t know what I was doing my job would be in jeopardy.” She states this after stating that Harris is uneducated and clueless about what is going on in the boarder. (What she gave her word for what she would be doing)

Overall, this group of woman believes that Harris has not contributed anything to benefit the country, they aren’t swayed by her or getting their vote for her being a woman, and believe that there will be a female president in office when “there is a competent one”.

The second group that spoke was the central right group (swing voters). They vocalized their opinions and concerns about president Donald Trump as well as Kamala Harris.

This group of individuals kept using the phrase “bomb is dropped” to compare the two. One of the female individuals stated that “if a bomb were to be dropped, trump would already have one foot out of the door”. The same female then stated that “if a bomb was dropped on our door step is it gonna take 6 months to move”, when referring to Harris.

There were two main concerns vocalized by the swing voters.

The main concern for Trump is that he can be too aggressive when it comes to making choices, which raises concern when it comes to these choices eventually backfiring.

The main concern for Harris is that not a lot of people are educated on her and frankly have no idea what she stands for or what she will bring to the table. The angle that trump has made a huge name for himself, even on negative terms was brought up.

One main difference between the swing voters and the women in favor for Trump, is that the swing voters kept acknowledging that there needs to be a common ground where individuals as a whole need to learn how to agree on things more effectively. They show concern that it shouldn’t be us against each other. It should be us against the problems within our country.

The video ‘everyone is excited about her and that scares me’: female trump voters on Harris, shows opinions on two different political parties, but shares the same concerns regarding our country. In full effect, civil liberties is provided by every single individual that participated in this video.
